So it was the Oscars weekend and we stayed up to see all the pretty couture dresses taking to the red carpet because let’s face it, there’s nothing we at Sleek love here more than some awesome couture gowns and some perfectly done hair. So we’ve put together the most epic of long posts for you here to show you just how to get your favourite stars Oscars look. Whether it was the Red Carpet Glam you were after or the Vanity Fair after party glitz, we have both here on display. Let’s get to it!

Let’s start off with Miss Halle Berry. Looking everything glitzy in her plunging neckline Versace gown, Halle lived up to our expectations entirely. She is never one to shy away from something a bit different on the Red Carpet and we do worry sometimes she takes things a bit too far in the wrong direction but this is spot on. She had her trademark short hair up in soft spikes, adding more drama to her look, her short her suits her down to the ground. We know that not everyone wants to take the plunge into short hair though, and that’s where Sleek comes in to play! Try out our Wig Fashion Human Hair Gloria Wig, for a short spiky style without having to commit to getting rid of your own locks! Easy!

Jennifer Hudson looked like a dream in blue on the Red Carpet for the Oscars. She wore a Roberto Cavalli long sleeved, blue sequin gown. It fit like a glove and left her looking like something a bit like a classy, chic little Mermaid. We loved the colour and the shine! Her hair was the talking point at Sleek HQ though, have you ever seen such perfectly straight long locks with such a perfect statement fringe? So on trend right now and a look we’re truly coveting. To get this yourself go for the Hair Couture Soft Net Wig Sandy. The hair is perfectly straight and the high quality means you get no frizz and your fringe stays fabulous!

Kelly Rowland must be taking lessons of Beyonce, because she has been kicking it on the Red Carpet lately with her flawless selections of couture. Monochrome is so on trend right now, showing all over fashion week and Miss Rowland’s black and white strapless Donna Karan gown is perfectly chic, we love the big of leg she’s showing too. Makes the whole ensemble more playful.  We also love her hair pulled up into this braided bun paired with this super blunt cut, full fringe. Have some fun recreating this look with Hair Couture accessories! Swirl Bunny will give you the perfect bun; try wrapping around some Headband Hair Braids to give it an interesting edge. We even have a Hair Couture clip in front fringe, for the perfect blunt cut, full bangs. The entire on trend look with none of the effort.

Oh Kerry Washington, you are so pretty! We’ve loved watching Kerry rock every Red Carpet she comes across from all of the Django Unchained press to all of the awards shows; her fashion choices are always unique and daring in a crowd of really bland beige ensembles. Kerry just looked divine in her coral Miu Miu couture gown. We love the embellished bodice against the simple coral gown and the train was to die for. Not many ladies can carry off such a colour and such a bodice but Kerry works it all well. The trick to this is her hair and makeup is super simple. She’s middle parted her long locks and kept them pushed behind the shoulders and straight. To get this look go for Sleek’s Spotlight Dainty Synthetic Lace Wig. It’s perfectly straight and frames your face well; also the lace front means it has versatile parting options that always look natural. Experiment like Kerry and see what you can achieve!

Naomi Harris really was a golden girl on the Red Carpet. We loved her edgy embellished, gold gown with a daring split by Vivienne Westwood; she looks like she’s trying to be one of the statuettes themselves! She really compliments the look with her accessories, which are also gold but look stunning and provide some glitz to everything that’s going on here. Her hair is classic, a deep side part and long curls pulled over one shoulder which really is Old Hollywood Glamour 101 and a look you can’t go wrong with for a formal event. If you want to go for this deep parting go for Sleek’s Fashion 101 Lily Synthetic Lace Wig. The handmade full lace at the front and the back mean you can part your hair in all sorts of places and it will still look natural. The style itself has the curls to create the glamour! What are you waiting for?

Octavia Spencer looked amazing on the Red Carpet. Her one shoulder, blush tulle gown with a hand-beaded bodice and lace underlay couture gown from Tadashi Shoji really just suited her so well. She looked like a princess, but a classy princess not a childish Barbie princess. The colour is so subtle and it just really gives this a floaty, dreamy, romantic feel. With such a pretty, but quite heavy dress we are glad she went with a simple up do and a fringe. Seeing the trend with big fringes now right? Go for a playful up do using Sleek’s EZ Ponytails as a base, we’d suggest the Euro Long in this case. Then perhaps use a clip in Hair Couture Fringe to get your bangs bang on, and then go find your best couture gown (or some jeans, jeans are good too!).

Last but by no means least we have Zoe Saldana. She look absolutely elegant in a gray crepe bustier gown with a belted waist and feminine floral applique neckline from Alexis Mabille. The four tones on the skirt and train of this we LOVE. Who knew grey could look so good? Though perhaps it’s a little busy on top, take away the bow or the belt and you have perfection right there! Zoe is pairing this look up with a really chic and sleek wavy shoulder length do. It’s so simple and so perfect for her outfit. You can grab this look yourself with Sleek’s Wig Fashion Angelina Synthetic Wig. Go for a side parting and keep your curls on your back for a clean finish. Oscar perfect in no time at all!

The Grammy’s are coming up this weekend and you can be sure that on both Sleek and Gill’s World we will be following the fashion and hair style action and filling you in so you can recreate the looks on the red carpet yourself! In preparation to this we are bringing you a special feature today on what celebs were wearing at the last few awards shows. We are suckers for Red Carpet glamour and there have been some real sleek and stylish couture this season! People have been taking risks with colour on their dress and colour in their hair and we think it’s all fabulous. So let’s take a look back at some of our favourite looks!

Miss Washington has been out in full force lately promoting Django Unchained, and she showed up at the NAACP Awards in this fantastic two colour dress. We weren’t sure at first that baby pink and mint green should be paired up, but it has really grown on us and we think Kerry looks fresh and vibrant! Kerry is rocking a straight, pinned back, sophisticated hair style which contrasts fantastically with her playful gown. If you want to get this look yourself we recommend something like Sleek’s Dainty Synthetic Lace Wig, which has a lightweight cap that’s airy and cool and has a lace front so can be adjusted to the perfect fit. This also means the hairline looks natural and realistic so you can pin it back as much as you like and always look fabulous.

We loved what Zuleikah was wearing at the SAG Awards, she looked like some sort of ethereal creature from Lord of the Rings (in the good way, not the orc way). It was flowery, flowy and was like the dress we dreamed about having when we were children and wanted to be fairies. It also reminded us of something that Miss Zooey Deschanel would be wearing. Zuleikah was rocking the long, full, straight hair with the blunt bangs too, which is band on trend for the moment. The catwalks at New York Fashion Week have been overflowing with blunt bangs accompanying long hair. You can get this look from Sleek with our Sapphire 100% Human Hair wig or our Erin Synthetic Wig. Both have the statement fringe and the length you need to play around and style up your hair to be just as dreamy as Zuleikah.

Thandie Newton sparkled in a short lilac and sheer dress that looked like it had a big silver firework splashed across it. We think it was a really fun choice in amongst all the very classic cuts and colours that were all over the Golden Globe red carpet. Her hair also looked amazing, long, classic layers that framed her face perfectly. She really did look as pretty as a picture. To get the classic long layered look yourself you can try our Spotlight Pizzazz Wig, which will stay as sleek and smooth as Thandie’s thanks to the high quality hair and the lace cap. Sleek can take care of the hair, you just need to figure out what sparkly party dress to pair it up with!

Halle Berry is always rocking her short, natural hair. Short hair is really on trend this season, with people adding lots of colour in and funking it up to give it edge and style. Halle always adds great texture to hers to keep it looking interesting and the punk sort of quality to it paired with her classic black gown at the NAACP awards provided such a great contrast of styles. Of course not everyone wants to go that short, we’re not all that brave! If you want to give the edgy short look a try but not chop off all your own hair we have a selection of great wigs for you! We would say that the Toni would be great for this style, have a play around styling it up in interesting ways once you’ve got it secured to your hair. For slightly more length you could also go for our Estelle Synthetic Wig. It has the added bonus of a fringe so you can get that edgy, punk look easily!

Meagan Good looks beautiful in this deep blue dress at the NAACP Awards. The colour and shape suit her really well and she looks so radiant don’t you think? She has her hair pulled back slightly to keep it out of her face, which is a great look for a night out when you don’t have a lot of time on your hands. Using a plait or a really good clip hair piece in or even just some really pretty hair clips can make it look really chic for little effort on your part. Our Fashion 101 Coral Wig is perfect for a look just like this. You’ll look fabulous even if you’re just heading to the supermarket… the world is your catwalk after all!

Hollywood paid tribute to some of the year’s best films, television programmes, actors and actresses last night at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. The stars were dressed to impress and there was tons of perfect hair & make-up for us to take reference from.

Shaun Robinson looked stunning channeling springs hot colour emerald. We love her sleek shiny hair and that fringe looks great! If you want to experiment with a fringe check out some of our fab wigs.

Lady of the moment Kerry Washington is working that layered bob to perfection, we love the poker straight finish and high gloss and have plenty of styles to create this look with Hair by Sleek

She’s an Oscar winning actress, a bond girl, a woman who many women admire and many men’s fantasy woman; Halle Berry reigns supreme as one of Hollywood’s most stunning stars. Better known for her iconic pixie crop, Halle has experimented with her style over the years, sometimes good and sometimes not so good! But fortunately for her, when you have a face that good nothing looks that bad! Sleek delves deep into the hair archives to look at some of the best and worst of Miss Berry’s style choices.

The style we know and love…

Normally we love curls, but not so much on this occasion…

Working a natural curl with plenty of volume…

Perfectly coiffured and super sexy…

Less of the fringe, more of the face please…

Sleek and smooth, we approve…

I think THAT dress was a ploy to distract from THAT hair…

A warmer tone teemed with soft waves…

The Michelle Obama ‘do…
